Russell E. Miller, 67, went home to be with his Savior on April 10, 2009 at 10:30 pm after a brief battle with cancer.

Born in Schenectady, NY, Russ was the son of Arline Miller and the late L. Russell Miller of Lake Wales, FL. He and his high school sweetheart, Nancy, were married for almost 45 years.

Russ graduated from Pennsbury High School near Yardley, PA, in 1960; from Bowdoin College, Brunswick, ME, in 1964; and from Columbia Business School, New York City, in 1966 with an MBA. In the course of his career, he worked at Spencer Stuart in New York City; Prudential Insurance in Newark, NJ; T. Rowe Price in Baltimore, MD; Alex Brown and Sons, also in Baltimore; American Values Investments in Johnson City, TN. Since 2001, he has been president of his own company, Foundation Financial, Inc., in South Carolina which focused on providing biblically responsible investing through screened portfolios for separately managed accounts. Paralleling his motivation for starting Foundation Financial was his extensive involvement in Kingdom Advisors in the final years of his life.

During Russ’s time in Baltimore, he became deeply involved in the Christian Business Men’s Committee with training by the Navigators, both of which reflected his passion for leading people to Christ and then training them for effective ministry to others, as commanded in II Timothy 2:2 - “And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.” He was also involved at his local church, Arlington Baptist Church, as a Sunday School leader for many years.

Russ was preceded in death by his father, L. Russell Miller. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Nancy Miller of Travelers Rest, SC; daughter, Laura Miller of Travelers Rest, SC; son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Jennifer Miller of Greenville, SC; daughter, Sarah Miller of Beijing, China; son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Jamie Miller of Greenville, SC; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Mia Miller of Los Angeles, CA; brother and sister-in-law, Craig and Rae Miller of Chappaqua, NY; grandsons, Henry and Edward Miller; and nieces and nephews.

The viewing will be 1 p.m. April 18, 2009 at Hampton Park Baptist Church with the memorial service at the same location at 3 p.m. the same day. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
